Thanks to everyone who came to our open day on Saturday and it was nice to see some faces we haven’t seen for a while.

If you were not able to attend, or did so and would like to view the presentation again it is available on the society’s YouTube channel, or a pdf can be obtained from a librarian.

SRS Net via QO-100 Satellite
Sunday 19th February 2023 will be remembered by members as the day in which the first club net via the QO-100 satellite was completed.
A project which began in 2022 came to a head in the afternoon of a cool February Sunday when contact was established between our Chair Tony M0SAV in Stockport and members Carsten G0SYP in Stretford, Manchester and Peter G8BCG in Cornwall.
Using a Ground Station supplied by DXPatrol of Portugal, Tony finally connected all the pieces of the jigsaw and successfully completed the contact.

Burnt Finger Evening
Time for an old favourite to make a return, the practical construction evening which has over the years in SRS circles acquired the nickname “Burnt Fingers” Session.
Tuesday 24th saw a fair throng of members braving a cold winter’s night, many warming themselves with a hot mug of tea and a slice of Ginger and Plum Jam Cake (thanks Neil) before firing up the soldering irons to get stuck in to building one of the many kits available on the night.
A fun evening was had by all with the promise of many more to come. Oh, and by the way our ready to hand first aid box was not troubled as we are pleased to say there were no burnt fingers!
